Religious Education

Our program of Religious Education for children and adults (Lifespan Resources for Education) is determined, as are all other programs, by consensus of the members of our congregation. A wide range of course material is available through the Unitarian Universalist Association. These are adapted by members as necessary. Appropriate courses may be offered in subjects as varied as interpersonal relations, ethical questions, the Bible, world religions, nature and ecology, heroes and heroines of social reform, Unitarian Universalist history, and holy days around the world.


Moral values increasingly frame public discourse. We must affirm the moral influence of liberal religion in society. The forebears of our faith have taken public positions on issues of consequence such as religious freedom, abolition, women's suffrage, and civil rights. This tradition continues in our advocacy of the freedom to marry. There should not be religious claims about controversial issues such as reproductive rights, stem cell research, the death penalty, and the teaching of evolution. Moral Values and principles and the definition of a person of moral values and principles. The importance of world we leave our children meaning and purpose in life what will our children inherit? The problems we have not solved.


Kwanzaa    This celebration is not a festival originating in any of the 55 African countries nor is it an "African" Christmas celebration. Kwanzaa is an African-Americans celebration of life from 26 December to 1 January.


Litany of Teacher Dedication    Faith is a journey walked by many generations. Through the years our insights, questions and understandings deepen. We need the company of one another to teach, to question, to encourage us along that journey.


Twelve Steps and Seven Principles   More and more persons are coming into our UU congregations by way of the recovery movement, and are finding more computability between the 12 Steps and our seven UU Principles than they are finding disparity. They have now come to this religious community in the hope of developing that spirituality further.
